North Island Air Station on Coronado is a spectacular location for a wedding. The beach is enormous and the new hotel is comfortable and elegant. On top of that Freya and Justin are an amazing couple who can’t seem to take a bad photo if they tried. Both Jon and Chris of SD Photo Studio were very excited to be a part of this amazing day.

I met Ben and Christina at 8AM on Sunday down at Crystal Pier in Pacific Beach. Of course the first thing I had to do when we met up was apologize for being a bit wiped out – I never would have guessed that the wedding I shot in Laguna Beach the night before was going to be 100+ degrees – and it really took a lot out of me. But Ben and Christina are a super chill couple and the whole theme of the shoot was a low-key “lifestyle” shoot so I like to think that my fatigue helped contribute to the final look in a positive way… haha – at least that’s my story and I’m sticking to it
More DetailsI met Dave and Jessi in Del Mar for a 2-part engagement photo session that would begin in the village of Del Mar and end on the trails at Torrey Pines. The weather was amazing (low 70’s and sunny) and we were lucky to avoid pretty much any crowds.

Both Jon and Chris tend to do a lot of headshots throughout the year – but these tend not to warrant an entire post on our blog. So here is a look at a year in review of some of our favorite photos of the year – as we wrap up 2012 and look forward to 2013
Courtney and Jordan were troopers yesterday morning… morning temperatures were in the high 30’s and they still agreed to meet me at 8AM for some nice early morning light. But as is so often the case… the results are worth the effort as we had absolutely spectacular conditions for these photos. Fortunately for all of us the temps started climbing pretty fast under the beautiful morning sun.
Old Poway Park has been a favorite location of mine for a long time – but I’ve never been able to talk anyone into getting up so early to do their pictures, so I was thrilled to have such a great looking couple keen to make great images with me.
More DetailsUnfortunately – the wedding happened on the east coast and we were not able to get out to cover that event… BUT Fortunately, Kristen’s family invited a west coast gathering and had us cover the event. This reception took place in an absolutely beautiful back-yard in North County San Diego and it included both a Croatian “cake smashing” as well as a slightly more “traditional” (for America at least) cake cutting.

Chris and Jon were at it again last weekend in Ocean Beach. We don’t get to team up together for every wedding – but when we do we always have a blast working together. This wedding took place in the courtyard at the Ocean Beach Hotel which is immediately adjacent to the Ocean Beach Pier. The sky on this particular day was a photographers dream come true – with a mix of light overcast and some awesome cloud formations.
